Hairpaste translates into Dutch as hair paste, but it is not necessarily so. A Hair Paste is difficult to describe but has many similarities with a hair wax. A hair paste is a bit wetter and the hold is often slightly less. A hair paste is ideal for restyling your hair. Why this is? Because it is a bit wetter, but does not really dry up like a gel does. You probably remember the old-school colored gels from the drugstore. Pastes come in all kinds, so there is always something for your thick hair. Do you want a lot of shine, or rather matte? Do you want a strong hold or rather less, the variations within hair pastes are large. In the end it's very simple, you use a hair paste for definition, accentuation and hold.

What are the characteristics of Hair Paste?

Below is an easy overview of what makes a paste a paste. This way you can also more easily compare it with other styling products

      • Is wetter in structure
      • Easier to distribute in your locks
      • Gives a matte look
      • Can be used on dry locks
      • Better to restyle throughout the day
      • Mainly used by people with thick locks

Furthermore, Hair Paste can also be used on wet hair, with this you create a little more hold. This is of course ideal for slick-back looks and the old school style. Some Hair Pastes can also give a slight shine, this is rather the exception to the rule. Read the information with the relevant product carefully if you are looking for a paste with a light shine. Hair paste is made on a water basis, which means it is easy to wash out. This also explains why Hair Paste generally has a matte look, but not only that.

Thanks to the water base, you won't get a build-up, which prevents any damage to your hair follicles. Hair Paste is ideal for short hair, especially if you want to create texture with a little bit of hold. By creating this it is important that you apply the paste to dry strands. If you want to create a flexible hold, you can apply it to both dry and wet hair, but you will create a little more hold if you apply the Paste to wet locks.

Hair Paste is not only suitable for thick locks, but also wavy hair. Combing paste through hand-dried hair makes it easier to control your locks without all the weird spikes and tufts that won't listen.

Is the Fudge Matte Hed Extra Paste really that good?

The Fudge Matte Hed Extra Paste is a popular paste. Of course, this also makes sense as it enhances the texture of your locks. Your locks look much thicker, and it has a very powerful hold. In other words, your locks will stay brilliant throughout the day! The nice thing about this paste is that it does not dry out your locks, which you see a lot with other hair pastes.

Is there a lot of variation within hair pastes?

The hair paste is quite similar to the hair clays, but as the name suggests it is more like a paste. Hair paste is less dry than hair clay and therefore easier to distribute through your locks. Hair paste often also provides a good hold and little shine. The American Crew Fiber Classic Fiber is a paste that is enriched with beeswax.

Is Hair Paste suitable for me and my hair?

Hair paste is mainly suitable for thick hair. Because the paste is quite wet, it is easy to distribute in your hair. A Clay, for example, is stiff, try to distribute it well through your hair.
