What are sulphates and parabens?
Okay, a quick dive into chemistry: Sulphate is a chemical made of sulphuric acid and salt. These are cleansers that remove grease from your hair. They get rid of all grease residues and other dirt that accumulates in your hair. Think of styling product residues, environmental pollutants (exhaust fumes) or sebum. It consists of two parts, a water-soluble part and an oil-soluble part. The oil-soluble part attaches to dirt. The water-soluble part then helps the dirt cling to water so it can rinse away. Sulphates are also responsible for the foaming effect in most cosmetic products.
Parabens are a chemical compound of benzoic acid. They help products last longer but also kill bacteria, fungi and mould trying to grow inside the product. So they act as a preservative.

What are the benefits of a sulphate- and paraben-free silver shampoo?
After reading the explanation about sulphates and parabens above, you might think: that's great! And it is, but these ingredients can have downsides. Too much or aggressive Si sulphates can also strip away the good oils and sebum from your scalp. This can cause an irritated scalp or faster greasy hair.
As for parabens: there is still little clarity after much research. Although parabens are effective, they are increasingly criticised. There are many types and big safety differences, sometimes more is used than necessary.
