Which HAAKAA Pump?
A Haakaa breast pump attaches to the breast using suction. You squeeze the pump and place it on the breast the baby isn’t feeding from. Combined with your let-down reflex, this is usually enough. If not, a gentle squeeze of the flexible pump helps milk flow or drip. And that’s it, the rest happens naturally. You don’t have to do anything else.
What is a milk collector?
A milk collector, also known as a breast milk collector, is HAAKAA’s innovative Sign and what they are famous for. It essentially does what the Haakaa breast pump does. This tool is designed for breastfeeding mums who don’t want to lose their golden breast milk. Instead of a nursing pad, you use the milk collector to save every drop of precious breast milk for your baby.
The milk collector attaches to the breast the baby isn’t feeding from. In the beginning, milk tends to leak due to the natural let-down reflex. Instead of soaking into a cloth, you’re already filling your first breast milk pouch for later!
How do I clean a Haakaa Breast Pump?
It’s actually very simple! Clean the Haakaa breast pump by boiling it in water for three to five minutes. Do NOT use bleach or sterilising tablets as they are unsafe and harmful to your Haakaa pump. Haakaa has also developed its own cleaning set suitable for all Haakaa products :)
What to use for leaking breasts?
This is a common question, and in the past, we would have said nursing pads! However, while they can be handy, we now recommend the milk collector! Why? It’s such a waste to throw away your breast milk, especially the milk from the first week! It can come in handy later :) Leaking breasts during feeding can be managed with a milk collector or a Haakaa ladybug milk catcher.
