Blush adds a touch of colour to your cheeks, giving your face a healthy glow. It’s perfect if your face looks a bit tired or if you naturally have a pale complexion. Blush looks very natural – after all, everyone gets a flush on their cheeks sometimes. It also helps shape your face by adding depth, making your face look slimmer. Plus, a blush can enhance and make your eye colour pop.
Which blush colour suits me?
There are many different blush colours, but which one suits your skin best? Curious? Below you’ll find exactly which colour works for you:
Blush for fair skin - For fair skin, it’s best to choose a light blush with soft pigmentation so it doesn’t look too strong. Decide if you prefer a cool or warm undertone:
- Cool undertone - go for a light pink shade
- Warm undertone - peach shades work best
Blush for medium skin - If you have medium skin, you’re lucky! Most colours suit you. The best choices are peach or coral blushes, which beautifully highlight your cheekbones.
Blush for dark skin - For darker skin, opt for deeper blush shades with strong pigmentation. Red or fuchsia pink are the Perfect colours for your complexion. Blushes with warm undertones also look wonderful.
Where do you apply blush?
Apply blush to the tops of the apples of your cheeks to highlight your cheekbones. Smile slightly in the mirror to see the apples on your cheeks. From there, blend towards your ear for the Perfect blush line.
How do I apply my blush?
The best way to apply blush is with a blush brush. The Ilu Angled Blush Kabuki is Perfect for applying your blush. The brush is angled and made with high-quality bristles, making application easy and precise. For a Cream blush, you can use your (clean) fingers to gently tap the blush onto your skin. Avoid rubbing; tapping helps blend the blush beautifully.
Build your blush gradually by applying small amounts multiple times. This way, you avoid using too much. (Oh, and make sure to apply your blush in good light to avoid misjudging the amount.) And don’t forget to blend well!
What’s the difference between powder blush and Cream blush?
There are various blush types, but what’s the difference between powder and Cream blush?
Powder: a powder blush is usually more subtle and less opaque than a Cream blush. It also requires less blending. Its powdery texture makes building up the colour easy.
Cream: this type is more intense than powder blush, making it perfect for going out. You can apply Cream blush very precisely, but blending well is important to avoid streaks.
