We’re already a while into the new year, but as far as we’re concerned, this is the year to get your hair in top condition! So we’re aiming for healthy, shiny, and beautiful hair. I can hear you saying, “That sounds easy,” but it really doesn’t have to take much effort. It’s time to say goodbye to some ‘Bad Habits’!
TIP 1 | AVOID BRUSHING WET HAIR
When your hair is wet, it’s also at its most vulnerable. If you brush it then, there’s a high chance you’ll damage your hair. And we don’t want that! While you have conditioner in your hair, you can gently remove any knots with your hands. Then wait until your hair is dry before safely brushing it!
As we now know, wet hair is extra vulnerable. Many people shower before bed and go to sleep with wet hair. You move a lot in your sleep, which causes friction. This friction is not good for your hair and damages it even more! So don’t go to sleep with wet hair; make sure your hair is dry before you go to bed.
TIP 3 | DO NOT USE A TERRY CLOTH TOWEL
A terry cloth towel is fine to use for drying your body, but did you know it's better not to use it on your hair? Terry cloth is rough in texture and causes friction, which can damage your hair. Instead, use a microfiber towel that doesn’t dry out or damage your hair!
We all know (hopefully) that it’s important to protect your skin from UV radiation. But did you also know that your hair needs protection from the sun? Your hair can get damaged and dry out because of it. So don’t go out in the sun without protecting your hair from UV radiation.
Let’s continue on the topic of heat, because besides the sun, there are of course other heat sources that can damage your hair. We all love styling tools. At least, most of us do. But that straightener, hairdryer, and curling iron are not your hair’s best friends. So don’t forget to use heat protection.
WE LOVE VOLUME. But not at the expense of your hair! So what we want is lots of volume, but no damaged hair. Sounds perfect, right? Teasing is therefore not really an option. Backcombing your hair can cause damage or even breakage. We therefore prefer to recommend using a volume powder or texture spray. With a few products (that also offer much more care) you still get that volume boost! Besides volume, you also add more texture and grip, giving your roots a lot more volume.
We can’t say it enough, keep taking good care of your hair! Whether you have healthy hair or not, it’s always important to give your hair some extra love now and then. Good care is the key ingredient for healthy and radiant hair. Treat your hair occasionally with a nourishing mask and don’t forget to regularly add a conditioner to your haircare routine.
