Styling your hair while you sleep. Sounds too good to be true, right? We have good news for you, because during the nighttime hours you can easily style your hair for the next day! In this blog, we share some simple tips and tricks for your locks while you sleep. That way, you’re super easy ready for the next day!

Heatless curls while sleeping

You’ve probably heard of it, the TikTok trend heatless curls. There are countless ways to do this and believe us, you don’t even need to buy anything new! You’ve probably seen satin rollers that you twist into your hair for a beautiful curly effect, but did you know you can also do this very well with items you most likely already have at home? Read on quickly!

You can perfectly use the following items, for example:

  • Scarf
  • Bathrobe belt
  • Leggings

Curling your hair with, for example, a bathrobe belt is not only better for your hair, but it also saves you a lot of time in the bathroom in the morning.

Here’s how to proceed

You can twist your hair around the belt in one direction, or you can alternate. Whichever way you choose, both give a beautiful curly effect. This method works best on freshly washed hair. Make sure your hair is towel-dried, as this helps the curl hold best. Here’s how to proceed:

  • Divide your hair into two sections and place the bathrobe belt on top of your head, securing it temporarily with, for example, a clip. This way, the bathrobe belt falls along both sides of your head.
  • Take a strand from the front of your head and wrap it over the top around the belt. If done correctly, the strand will come out at the front again.
  • Then take a new strand and wrap it around the belt again, so this strand (which is now a bit thicker) comes out at the front again.
  • Repeat these steps until one of the two sections is completely wrapped around the belt.
  • Secure the bottom of your hair with a scrunchie or other hair tie to keep it properly in place.

You can leave the bathrobe belt like this now, but we didn’t find it very comfortable to sleep with. That’s why it’s handy to wrap the two ends of the belt around the back of your head and tie them loosely. You can do this either at the back or the top of your head. This way, you’ll hardly notice it and everything stays securely in place. Now it’s time to sleep!

When you wake up, take the bathrobe belt out of your hair. Do this carefully to keep the curls in the best shape. Gently unwind the strands from the belt until everything is loose. Carefully run your hands through your hair to loosen the curls a bit, apply a little bit of hair oil on the ends for a healthy shine and you’re ready to go with a voluminous head of curls!

Fake blow-up while you sleep

Not into curls and want a natural but voluminous look? Go for the fake blow-up look. It looks like you styled your hair with a blow dryer, but no heat is involved.

For a look with lots of volume, you can very well wear a loose bun in your hair at night.

  • For some extra va va voom volume, apply some sea salt spray or volume mousse on your hair
  • Gather your hair together on top of your head. This works easiest by hanging upside down so you can get the hair up well.
  • Then loosely roll up the hair until you have a bun.
  • Secure the bun with a hairpins or a soft hair tie, like a scrunchie

After a night’s sleep, you can gently take the bun out of your hair. Style it carefully with your hands if needed and add a little more hairspray to strengthen.

Beach waves while you sleep

This technique is probably not entirely new to you and you can easily put your own spin on it. For subtle but beautiful curls, you can make one or more braids in your hair before going to sleep. You decide how many braids and how thick they are; the bigger the braid, the looser the curl.

Divide your hair into equal sections (depending on how many braids you want) and start braiding your hair. We recommend braiding your hair when it’s dry or slightly damp for the best result.

When you wake up, gently undo the braids and run your fingers through your hair to loosen the curls. A little texture spray add, et voila!

What will it be for you - lots of small braids or a big curl?
