Generally, men are very particular about caring for their hairstyles. The same barber for years, the same shampoo, etc. But are you still doing it right? Of course, you want to protect your hairstyle as well as possible and keep it in shape.

A good hair care routine doesn't have to be complicated or long. On the contrary! A good routine is simple and focused. Because we understand that sometimes it can be hard to see the forest for the trees, we explain exactly how to best maintain your hairstyle.

Step 1: Washing and caring

A good foundation is essential in your new hair routine! That's why we start with Shampoo  and Conditioner.

Which shampoo suits my hair type?

It's important to use a care product that suits your hair type to get the best results. Below we have some shampoo options for different hair types:

What is the best temperature to wash my hair?

Is it better to use hot or lukewarm water? We recommend washing your hair as much as possible with lukewarm/warm water. Hot water damages hair faster. It opens the hair cuticles, making hair dull, dry, and porous. You lose essential natural oils that protect the hair and roots. Plus, you risk burning your scalp. So, to keep your hair healthy, avoid hot water and use only lukewarm/warm water!

After washing your hair with shampoo, apply a small amount of conditioner. Let it sit for a few minutes and then rinse thoroughly, this time with cold water. This closes the hair cuticles and keeps your hair shiny and healthy!

TIP: it's best to use a conditioner that matches the shampoo, so one from the same line.

Step 2: Drying

Pat your hair dry with a soft towel. Avoid rubbing vigorously. Wet hair is weak because water stretches the keratin molecules in the hair. This can cause hair breakage if you dry it roughly. So gently pat your hair dry with a towel and then let it air dry.

Never comb or brush wet hair. Because the hair is weak, you damage the strands down to the fibers. In other words: you literally break your hair.

How can I best blow-dry my hair?

Of course, you can also choose to, after towel-drying your hair, blow-dry it instead of letting it air dry. hairdryer to use. This immediately gives your hair more volume and lets you start shaping it. Make sure your hair is towel-dried and that you don’t blow-dry your wet hair right away. This damages the hair and also takes longer.

Set the hairdryer to the lowest possible temperature. Want to be sure your hair is well protected from heat? Then massage some
argan oil in the hair or use a good pre-styler.

Step 3: Styling

Now you can style your hair with a styling product. For a natural look, use wax, clay, or pomade. Want it a bit sleeker? Then a gel is a better idea. Spread the product over your hands and then style your hair as desired. Work from back to front for the best result. Want to know more about applying styling products? In this blog we tell you whether to apply a product to wet or dry hair.

Tip: Use products without parabens and sulfates

Always try to use natural and gentle products for your hair. Preferably with as few or even no chemical ingredients. Why? This is better for the hair's moisture balance. It restores and improves the natural hair oil production and ensures a more beautiful hair color. Below is a list of ingredients you should avoid if this is important to you:

  • Mineral oils (paraffinum liquidum, mineral oil or petrolatum)
  • SLS/SLES
  • Silicones
  • Parabens
  • Fragrance

On our webshop we have listed the ingredients of every shampoo and whether they are free from the above ingredients. This way, you always know what you are buying. Need help? We are happy to assist you.
