Little girls love nothing more than dressing up and pretending to be little princesses. Dressing up with mum is a favourite activity too. And for mums, it’s great to do this worry-free and with peace of mind ;) More and more parents check the ingredients before buying for their little ones. Rightly so, as you are the barrier between your child and the world. We believe it’s important that as many households as possible have access to children’s nail polish that’s safe for the tiniest fingers without hormone disruptors. The more places this is available, beyond just beautiful children’s shops, the better it becomes the norm!
Is children’s nail polish safe for my child’s health?
Not all children’s nail polish is automatically safe and good for kids’ health. There are no laws that prohibit certain hormone disruptors from being in nail polish, for example. So no, children’s nail polish isn’t always safe for your daughter’s health. But yes — there are brands that have developed safe children’s nail polishes. In other words, look for the safe brands. Because safe children's nail polish is not yet common or widely available, we decided to change that. We believe every household should be able to ‘easily’ add a polish to their daughter’s order. And unboxing it is of course a bonus — she gets to join in with mum’s grown-up beauty haul!
Is your children’s nail polish the same as the ones from, for example, Hema and Kruidvat?
No, the children’s nail polishes sold at Hema and Kruidvat are different from those in our range. Though they have lovely colours and attractive prices, their ingredients aren’t what you want on your little girl’s nails. Hema now has children’s nail polish, and sometimes Kruidvat does too. They might have limited offers or temporary children’s nail polish — but price is usually compressed alongside ingredients. Safe nail polish for children tends to cost more because safe ingredients cost more. This raises the price, but it’s better for your daughter’s health and an investment in her wellbeing.
Which brands offer safe and non-toxic nail polish for children?
More and more beauty brands are emerging with non-toxic children’s nail polishes. We currently stock one brand: Miss Nella. We chose this brand because they also offer safe kids’ make-up. Plus, they have as many as 52 colours! That means a different shade every week for a whole year! WOW! That’s really a lot, haha. And... there are colours you as a mum can wear too! Seriously, it’s super fun! You’ll be wearing safe nail polish too ;)
Are there special nail polish removers for children’s nail polish?
Good question! At some point, kids want to remove their nail polish — maybe to change colour or because it’s looking worn and they want fresh nails ;) This question is common because many parents use their own regular polish removers. Why? Because safe children’s nail polish hasn’t been easy to find until now. But as we said, we’re changing that! Yes!
Miss Nella polishes don’t require polish removers. Their children’s nail polishes are peel-off! Ideal and great fun for little ones ;) Playing with it is what they love. Applying it is fun, and removing it is too.
