Haircare is the key to Perfect hair. Good haircare starts with a quality shampoo & conditioner but it goes much further. Every hair type has different needs, so you need different haircare products with matching ingredient formulas. Simply adding a good hair mask or hair serum to your Haircare routine means you no longer have to suffer from hair breakage, frizz, or bad hair days. Let’s take care of your hair and find your key product together with Haarspullen!
What types of haircare are there?
At haarspullen.nl there are countless types of haircare available. These types include:
Shampoo: How, with what, and how often you wash your hair is essential for healthy hair. A gentle cleanse to remove excess oil, product residue, and dirt from the scalp is a must. Also, it's important to choose a shampoo that meets your hair's needs.
Do you often have dry hair? Then it’s wise to use a shampoo that’s extra hydrating. If you have coloured hair, it’s best to use a shampoo specially made for coloured hair. Have curls? That’s a whole different story and there are certain ingredients you should definitely avoid.
Speaking of which, let’s get to the last point: watch out for harmful ingredients. Some ingredients harm your hair and scalp. Sulphates, parabens, Silicones, mineral oils and some alcohols are the main culprits. This doesn’t mean these ingredients should never appear in the ingredient list, but at least in small amounts.
Conditioner: ‘To use or not to use conditioner’ is still widely debated. We (and most hairdressers) definitely recommend using conditioner. Conditioner doesn’t weigh down your hair and won’t make it greasy if you apply it to the lengths.
Conditioner is step two in the Haircare routine. Conditioner (as you might already know) is the essential follow-up to shampoo. Shampoo opens up your hair cuticles. Conditioner seals the cuticles back down. It also makes your hair super soft, shiny, and easy to comb. Want to know more about conditioners? Check out this blog: Everything you need to know about conditioners.
Hair Mask: A hair mask is a vital product for intense care and to meet specific needs. A mask penetrates deep into the hair. You can easily repair (also chemically) damaged hair with a mask. Again, it’s important to choose a mask that perfectly matches your hair needs. We recommend using a hair mask about once or twice a week. Curious which hair masks we recommend? Below are our top 10 bestsellers:
- Olaplex Hair Perfector No.3
- Fanola Nutri Care Mask
- K18 Leave-In Molecular Repair Hair Mask
- Schwarzkopf BlondMe Keratin Bond Mask All Blondes
- Olaplex Bond Smoother No.6
- L'Oréal Serie Expert Absolut Repair Lipidium Golden Mask
- L'Oréal SE Vitamino Color Resveratrol Mask
- Wella Color Fresh Pearl Blonde Mask
- Goldwell Dualsenses Rich Repair 60s Treatment
- Redken Extreme Strength Builder Plus
Silver Shampoo: Do you have blonde (coloured) hair? Maybe you’ve experienced a warm glow or yellow undertone.. The blue/purple pigments in silver shampoo neutralise yellow and warm undertones. This helps you maintain your cool blonde/grey shade between hairdresser visits. And don’t worry, silver shampoo contains pigments but is absolutely harmless to your hair!
Hair Oil: Using hair oils is a very intense Siier to restore your hair fully. Many people think hair oil only makes their locks greasy, but nothing could be further from the truth! A quality hair oil doesn’t weigh your locks down but actually helps them recover. Your hair produces natural oil, but this is affected by daily styling and pollution. This damages your hair, leaving it dry and unhealthy looking. To improve your hair’s condition and keep it healthy, soft, and shiny, you may need to use hair oil. Fortunately, there are various oils available to keep your locks beautiful and healthy! Check them all on this page!
Hair Vitamins: Hair vitamins are tablets packed with vitamins and minerals that are super healthy for your hair. Yes, they really work! Nutrition also plays a role in creating healthy hair. Hair vitamins were developed to make this easier.
Hair vitamins mainly contain substances naturally found in the body that strengthen and protect hair. The vitamins are rich in: biotin, vitamin E, vitamin C, zinc, folic acid and omega-3. If you’re interested in hair vitamins, they work best if taken consistently over time.
Care for scalp problems: This range consists of various products specially developed to combat different scalp issues like dandruff, itching, flaking, or excessive oiliness!
Treatments: A care product that nourishes your locks an extra step further. Especially curls, damaged hair and dry hair need extra care. Choose a treatment made specifically for your hair type!
Sets: A range of various product combinations. Extra favourable deals, just for you! Check all the sets now and maybe you can get your favourite Haircare products for much less!
What haircare suits my hair?
So the key to a Perfect salon look and long-lasting healthy hair is to use haircare that perfectly matches your hair type. If you’re not sure yet, the first step is to figure out what your hair needs or what problems you face repeatedly. Everyone is different, so we’ve added a mini guide below:
If you still can’t decide, feel free to contact us HaarspullenTeam! - info@haarspullen.nl
What haircare suits my blonde hair?
For blonde coloured hair, it’s a must to maintain your optimal blonde shade. The best way is to use a silver shampoo. Can’t choose? We recommend the MORE Haircare Extreme No yellow Shampoo ! For caring for your blonde locks: check the BlondMe products from Schwarzkopf!
What haircare suits curls?
Curls usually need a bit more attention. For curly hair, you mainly have to pay attention to your curl type and avoid harmful ingredients that weaken your curls and/or cause frizz. Since curls can be quite complicated, we recommend you check the curl blog or the CG-proof method from A to Z.
What haircare suits flat or fine hair?
If you have fine and/or flat hair, you’re looking for more volume. We recommend a light, airy volume shampoo. This gives your hair a volume boost instead of falling flat along your face. Often proteins are added to volume shampoos to make hair resilient.
What haircare suits scalp problems?
Scalp problems, like hair loss, are hard to fix quickly. An intensely caring shampoo specially developed for scalp issues is recommended.
What haircare suits coloured hair?
Coloured hair needs special care because chemical treatments can severely damage your hair. Besides, you want your colour to last as long as possible. That’s why we recommend always using products specifically developed for coloured hair.
What haircare suits long hair?
For Perfect long locks, it’s important to keep your ends healthy. Also, long hair gets heavy and you don’t want it to hang flat around your face. You’ll need a shampoo that won’t weigh your hair down and keeps the length healthy.
What haircare suits dandruff?
Dandruff or flakes are something you want to get rid of immediately. Luckily, there are plenty of products that fix this! If you occasionally suffer from dandruff, we recommend an anti-dandruff shampoo that immediately removes flakes. If you have dandruff more often, we advise using a shampoo specifically developed to care for the scalp (sensitive scalp)!
How do I care for my hair?
Of course, every hair type needs different care. But there are some steps you can always follow:
- Cleanse: Wash your hair a maximum of three times a week. Use a shampoo that suits your hair type.
- Conditioner: You need conditioner after washing to close your hair cuticles.
- Extra care: Use a nourishing mask or nourishing hair oil one or two times a week
- Hair vitamins: Hair vitamins are always good and strengthen your natural hair!
How do I keep my hair healthy?
Enough about shampoos and hair masks! There are many more tips & tricks for caring for your hair. Below we’ve listed some general haircare tips:
- Don’t wash your hair too often (two to three times a week)
- Wash your hair with lukewarm water
- Comb your hair when dry instead of wet
- Drink plenty of water
- Tie your hair up before going to sleep
- Sleep on a satin or silk pillowcase (especially if you have curly hair)
- Use heat protector
- Cut your split ends regularly
- Use gentle hair ties - invisibobble
- Massage your scalp regularly
What natural haircare is available?
Natural ingredients simply work really well and truly make a difference! Besides, there’s an extra reason behind natural products; they’re much better for the environment. Below are some natural (Vegan) haircare brands we recommend:
- All products from ActNow. A complete sustainable, natural product line developed by Indola.
- The high-quality products from Maria Nila are 100% natural and eco-friendly. Maria Nila is also known for the excellent quality of their fantastic products!
- Attitude is a complete family brand and all about safe, natural ingredients!
- The super nice brand InSight is fully based on natural ingredients!
Which ingredients should I avoid as much as possible?
There are some ingredients we recommend you avoid as much as possible. This doesn’t mean they should never appear on the ingredient list. Here is our standard list of ingredients to avoid:
- Sulphates (SLES/SLS) - This ingredient is common in foaming products. Sulphates create a foaming effect but at the same time intensely cleanse the hair, removing all natural essential oils. This can result in dry/damaged hair.
- Silicones (-cone, -xane or -conol) - Silicones are added to give hair a shiny layer. Initially, your hair will indeed shine because of the Silicones. But over time, this layer builds up, preventing hair from absorbing care and making it dull.
- Mineral oil - The word “oil” can be misleading. Oil is often good for your hair, but mineral oil makes your hair’s natural oils disappear and forms a layer around your hair. This layer stops the hair from breathing.
- Parabens - There’s still a lot of debate about parabens. We advise avoiding parabens as much as possible. Parabens can cause allergic reactions; some studies link parabens to breast cancer, but there’s no conclusive proof yet.
-
Alcohol - not all alcohols are bad for your hair, but some types dry out your hair and are best avoided:
- Alcohol Denat
- Ethanol
- Isopropanol
- Isopropyl Alcohol
- Propanol
- Propyl Alcohol
- SD Alcohol (40)
- Witch Hazel
What is Vegan haircare?
‘Vegan’ is nowadays much more than a trend. Luckily, more brands are switching to Vegan formulas. Vegan simply means ‘no animal ingredients’. It’s also cruelty free. If you’re looking for Vegan haircare, you can always spot it with the ‘Vegan icon’ or in the description.
Tip: Indola ActNow is worth checking out if you’re into Vegan haircare!
Is there haircare for Mans?
