1. Choose the right volume: 10 Vol for gentle lift at the scalp, 20 Vol for standard lightening, 30 Vol for extra lift in foils or balayage.
2. Mix Redken Pro-oxide Oil with Blonde IQ 9+ powder according to the ratio on the packaging, usually 1:2 or 1:3.
3. Apply the mixture to the hair, starting from the tips if working at the scalp with 10 or 20 Vol.
4. Leave to process as directed in the Blonde IQ instructions.
5. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water and continue with your usual hair care routine.

After lightening, your hair is extra sensitive. Use the Acidic Bonding Concentrate Pre-Treatment - 190ml before shampooing to stabilise the hair structure and reduce breakage after colouring.

Using Redken Pro-oxide Oil gives a bright, warm blonde without yellowing. That’s exactly what you want when aiming for ultimate lift with the Blonde IQ system. The oil in the formula, mineral oil in this case, makes the mix glide smoothly through hair and feel less irritating on a sensitive scalp. Hydrogen peroxide is the active ingredient that opens the hair so pigments can be lifted. Volume determines the strength of the process. As part of Redken’s professional haircare range, this developer is precisely matched to Blonde IQ for consistent blonde results.

It depends where you apply it and how much lift you want. 10 Vol is the mildest and works well for a subtle tone at the scalp. 20 Vol offers more lift and is the most commonly used strength for standard lightening. Use 30 Vol for significantly lighter results, preferably off-scalp in foils or with balayage technique. Avoid using 30 Vol directly on the scalp, especially on porous or previously chemically treated hair. If you’re unsure, start with 20 Vol for Blonde IQ.

Redken Pro-oxide Oil is specially designed for Blonde IQ 9+. Don’t use it with other Redken lines like Color Gels or Flash Lift. Those have their own Pro-Oxide Cream Developer with a different texture tailored to those systems. Using Redken Pro-oxide Oil outside the Blonde IQ system can produce unpredictable results.

To combine Redken Pro-oxide Oil with Blonde IQ: always mix powder and developer in the right ratio, usually 1:2 or 1:3 depending on technique. Work quickly after mixing as activation starts immediately. Use a lower volume at the roots than on the lengths to avoid hot roots—lighter roots caused by warmth from the scalp accelerating lightening.

The difference between Redken Pro-oxide Oil and Cream Developer is in texture and use. The Oil is more liquid and oil-like, mixing easily with Blonde IQ powder and applying smoothly. Cream Developer is thicker and used with Color Gels, Flash Lift, and other Redken colour ranges. If you only work with Blonde IQ 9+, choose the Oil. If you use multiple Redken systems, you likely also need Cream Developer. The Oil doesn’t replace the Cream Developer across the board.
