Immediately after birth, all babies receive 1,000 mcg of vitamin K. Babies cannot produce sufficient vitamin K or absorb vitamin D on their own during the first few months. However, these vitamins are essential for bone development, cell division, and the immune system, among other things.

Vitamin K2 is found in foods of animal origin. Our Vitamin K drops are formulated not only with vitamin K2 but also with vitamin K1. This is quite unique because most nutritional supplements only use vitamin K1, while K2 is just as important!

The quality of vitamin D can also vary considerably. Vitakruid considers quality to be very important and has therefore chosen to use vitamin D3. Vitamin D3 is the form that humans produce naturally under the influence of sunlight. This is the most bioavailable form and is therefore better absorbed by the body.

It is recommended that children up to age 4 receive 10 mcg of vitamin D daily. The dose of vitamin K your baby receives from the midwife at birth is sufficient for the first week. After that, it is recommended to give your little one 150 mcg of vitamin K daily from day 8 until the end of month 3.
