Summer Tips: Hair
You know the feeling—it's summer, it's 30 degrees outside, and your hair is getting in your way. That urge to shout: “I’m going to shave it all off!” Luckily, there are some amazing summer hair looks that prevent this. Here are a few ideas and tips:
Messy bun
The messy bun is definitely our top pick for summer looks. Perfect for a beach day, it keeps your hair off your face and sweat-free. Plus, it looks super cute! Start your day with a comfy messy bun and enjoy hassle-free hair all day. To make it even cuter, tie your bun with a scrunchie or a small scarf to complete your summer look!
Beach waves
A real favourite are the pretty Beach waves. You know, after a long day at the beach the seawater gives your hair beautiful waves. The downside is natural Beach waves usually come only at the end of the day. Luckily, you can make them yourself! Use a salt Spray at home to easily create that Beach look. Our webSisite features several options so you can achieve a fantastic Beach look without a day at the beach. Become a true Beach babe! Try the Fudge Salt Spray, Indola Texture Salt Spray, or Maria Nila Salty Mist.
The hair clip
Totally on-trend right now: hair clips! A must-have for summer. You can pin or clip up your hair easily. Clip it onto your bag or blouse to carry it everywhere. Always have your clip handy and look effortlessly fabulous! Nowadays, hair clips come in all kinds of colours, sizes, and designs like butterflies, flowers, pearls, and more.
Haircare in summer
Your hair can dry out from sun, seawater, or pool water. Keeping your hair tied up reduces sun damage. We recommend using extra nourishing products in summer to prevent dryness. Some of our favourite brands have special summer care lines. For example, Schwarzkopf Bonacure Sun Protect helps protect your hair and maintains a healthy summer glow! Wella also offers a Sun line with gentle products that restore moisture balance and give your hair extra care.
Scalp protection in summer
In summer, protecting your hair and scalp is extra important. The sun and scalp combo can be dangerous. The scalp is often one of the first places to burn after a day in the park or at the beach. A cute cap or hat isn’t just stylish—it’s essential because a healthy scalp means healthy hair! Pamper your scalp and protect it well. You can apply sunscreen along your parting and hairline for extra protection.
Yellow tinge in your hair?
If you have blonde hair and suffer from yellow tones in summer, that’s really annoying. The solution is silver shampoo! Its purple colour neutralises yellow tones, leaving you with a bright, fresh hair colour!
Summer Tips: skincare
When you think of summer, probably the sun comes to mind. Lot’s of outside time, soaking up sun, and enjoying a tanned complexion on the terrace. Make sure to protect your skin well from UV rays. Also, after sun exposure, continue to care for your skin. Every skin type is different, so what works for one may not for another. Here are some tips:
Wear a hat, cap or sunglasses
A hat or cap protects hair and scalp from drying out and discolouration. It also helps prevent sunstroke. Sunglasses protect your eyes and prevent wrinkles from squinting at the sun. A great tip if you have sensitive skin or burn easily.
Avoid perfume
Spray don’t wear perfume on your skin when sunbathing. Ingredients in some perfumes can cause stubborn pigmentation spots under sun exposure. Perfume combined with sun can also irritate your skin. Instead, choose a nice deodorant during the day.
Use sunscreen
When you’re out in the sun, it’s important to use sunscreen. Sunscreen protects your skin from the sun’s rays. Apply regularly, for example every two hours. After swimming, reapply for continued protection.
EXTRA BEAUTY TIP! Did you know UV rays and sunburn accelerate skin ageing? Sunscreen for the face is the ultimate beauty hack for youthful, healthy skin!
How to treat sunburn?
If you’ve applied sunscreen but still got sunburnt, we’re here to help! Here are some top tips on what to do.
- Cool your skin! Apply an after-Sun ideally with aloe vera. Aloe vera cools and soothes the skin, helping it to heal faster!
- Stay hydrated. Drinking plenty of water helps your skin heal more quickly.
- Applying yogurt may sound odd, but it’s very effective. It nourishes the burnt area, cools, and relieves pain. Apply a thick layer, leave for a few minutes, then enjoy soft, smooth skin.
- Severe pain? Take ibuprofen. It reduces pain and inflammation. Paracetamol also relieves pain but isn’t anti-inflammatory.
- For mild burns, cool with a cold, wet towel, soothing cream, or an afterSun Lotion (preferably with aloe vera to ease pain and heat).
- For serious burns, a lukewarm shower helps. Drink lots of water, around two litres daily. Call your GP if the burn is severe.

EXTRA BEAUTY TIP! Beauty comes from within—drinking lots of water really helps maintain healthy, youthful skin!
Drink enough water
Protecting your skin from the sun is important, but caring for it outside sun exposure matters too. Your body loses lots of fluids in summer, so drink plenty. This keeps your skin hydrated. Aim for two to three litres daily.
BodyLotion
After a day at the beach, the first thing you’ll probably do is enjoy a refreshing shower. Treat your skin with a bodyLotion to hydrate and nourish your skin extra.
EXTRA BEAUTY TIP! Keeping your skin hydrated (drinking water, using bodyLotion, etc.) helps you enjoy your tan longer!
Want to tan faster?
Lying in the sun for hours is a struggle for some—too hot and desperate for shade. Others bake for hours without moving. Either way, many wish for that sun-kissed glow and there are Maniers to help you tan faster.
- One of the best tips is to exfoliate your skin before sunbathing. Scrubbing removes dead skin cells, giving your skin a better chance to tan quickly and evenly with a long-lasting Manier!
- If you want to tan, sunbathe near water, like by the pool or at the beach. The water reflects sunlight to speed up tanning.
- Exercise is a quick way to tan faster. Activities like running or cycling expose your body to sun from all angles. You stay fit and get a lovely tan! Even a walk helps ;)
Self-tan
Can’t wait for a tan? You can always create one yourself! With our lovely tanning products, you’ll have sunkissed skin in just one day to enjoy all winter long!
Summer Tips: Makeup
A party on a scorching summer afternoon... how to manage your makeup? The sun can melt it, or the heat makes you sweat it off. Here are our tips for summer makeup:
Wear a hat or cap
If you spend a sunny afternoon outside, you usually reapply sunscreen several times. But with layers of foundation, blush, highlighter, etc., that’s tricky. The Perfecte solution is wearing a cap or hat to protect your face from the sun. Your makeup stays flawless and you avoid sunburn!
Avoid facial makeup
Sometimes you won’t wear a hat or cap and will be in the sun all day. Then, you might skip facial makeup and only wear eye and lip makeup. This way, you can still protect and hydrate your face during the day. The sun often gives you natural rosy cheeks and a subtle Glow.
Sunscreen under your makeup
If the above isn’t an option, apply sunscreen before makeup. Use it like a day cream in the morning to protect both your skin and makeup from sun damage. It’s handy to carry sunscreen for reapplication throughout the day to stay fully protected!
Prevent makeup meltdown
A hat or cap keeps the sun from damaging your makeup. But heat can also make you sweat, causing makeup to run. The solution: blotting paper and powder! Gently blot your face dry then apply (transparent) powder. Powder absorbs oil and moisture. Perfect!
Mascara
Mascara is one of the most-used makeup products—an absolute must-have in your stash. A waterproof mascara is the best solution for smudging. It won’t run and keeps your lashes looking great all day. Another solution is wearing sunglasses—no one needs to see smudges ;)
Fading out makeup
If you plan a sunny day, it’s best to avoid facial makeup. The sun melts foundation, causing blotches. If going makeup-free feels strange, gradually reduce your makeup daily. This helps you get used to it and enjoy the beach without makeup stains!
Summer Tips: Beauty Trends
Every year new beauty looks become trendy. Sometimes returning vintage styles, sometimes all new. Here are this summer’s trends:
Hair Trends
Want to change your look? Try one of these trends:
Curtain bangs
Curtain bangs remain a fun summer trend. They’re slightly longer and fall around your face, highlighting it and adding a twist to your hairstyle.
The bob
Back in style! This time it’s a bit messy, for more movement and texture. Bonus: it’s lighter than long locks!
Layers
Another returning trend! Time to get layers. You don’t have to say goodbye to your long hair but add some texture.
Big clips and bling bling
No more subtle hairpins—think bold clips, clasps, and hair accessories. Especially classy and refined.
Hair clips
Hair clips remain a favourite summer trend. Once seen as practical tools, now available in all colours, shapes, and sizes. Very trendy! Pin all or half your hair up—both look stylish and easy.
Top and low buns
The high bun is back! Messy with loose strands, not too polished. The low bun is just as trendy this summer! It keeps hair off your back in the heat and looks super chic. Plus, it’s great when you want to postpone washing your hair.
Glass Hair
If we say glass hair, it might not ring a bell immediately. Yet it's a hair trend this summer. Luckily, it’s easy to achieve: the key is mega shiny hair, and products like a lovely hair oil and a good conditioner will get you there.
skincare Trends
The skincareSiindustry is ever evolving—that’s putting it mildly. Every year brings new trends or hacks. Here are this summer’s:
The less-is-more approach
Using fewer products to create a bigger effect. Maybe you’ve tried so many products over the years and now you know what truly works for your skin. The key is a routine with only the essentials your skin really needs!
Sustainable skincare
Social responsibility like climate impact plays an increasingly important role in the beauty industry. Recycled packaging, plastic-free, recyclable... you hear it more and more. Many brands are shifting to more eco-friendly packaging.
De-stresSing skincare
Relaxation is the focus this year, especially after 2020. Aromatherapeutic scents are increasingly used. Many skincare brands include stress-relieving ingredients.
Makeup Trends
Want to be totally on fleek this summer? Here are some trends:
Statement lips
A lipliner just outside your lips’ edge adds volume. This trend is here to stay. Feel free to choose a bold lip colour. Keep the rest of your makeup clean so all attention goes to your lips. You’re good to go!
Glowy Skin
Oily-looking, shiny skin isn’t usually desired, but Glowy skin is very much in right now. Just don’t let it be caused by greasy skin. Create the no-makeup look simply with light foundation or concealer, light powder, mascara, brow gel, and a nice gloss. That’s all you need.
Blush
Blush looks best when applied subtly. Still, this year’s trend is to wear blush lavishly. Let those cheeks be seen with a lovely colour!
