Step 1: Cleanse your hair
If you have long locks, we recommend not washing them too often. This often makes your hair feel even drier. It is important to wash your hair with the right products. Use a lightweight shampoo and conditioner, such as the Redken High Rise Volume Set. These products add volume to your hair, strengthen it, and add shine.
Step 2: Care for your hair the right way
Besides shampoo and conditioner, a nourishing mask is essential. Masks intensely nourish and hydrate your hair for softer and stronger hair and provide more intensive care than a conditioner.
Use the mask after washing your hair with shampoo. Why? Shampoo opens your hair cuticles so the nourishing ingredients can be absorbed well. Moreover, a mask also helps close your hair cuticles again, making your hair feel nice and smooth after use.
After towel-drying, a nourishing serum is wonderful for your hair. For example, use the Biosilk Silk Therapy Original a nice serum that is not only very nourishing but also protects your hair against heat and UV radiation.
Step 3: Time to blow-dry!
Now we start the styling routine! After you have cared for your hair, you can start drying it. But before using a heat tool, first apply a heat protector. Always set the dryer to the medium setting, this is better for your hair. Dry your hair until it is 75% dry and run your fingers through your hair to speed up the process. It is important to point the dryer downwards. This way, the hair cuticles lie flat, reducing frizz and increasing shine. Below you will find some dryers that Ingrid likes:
Is your hair 75% dry? Then start by sectioning your hair. How you do this depends on the thickness of your hair. Ingrid advises small sections, so the blow-dry brush or dryer can reach the hair better and it dries faster. Once you've done this, you're ready for step 5!
Step 5: Create volume in your hair with the blow-dry brush
Polish your hair with a blow-dry brush by running it over your hair for a few minutes. To create volume, move the blow-dry brush against the direction of your hair. Then let it cool down gently for 1 to 2 minutes. Once this time has passed, run your hand through your hair. Ingrid likes to work with these blow-dry brushes:
Would you rather work with a blow dryer and blow-dry brush? It’s also possible to create natural waves and volume in your hair this way.
Step 6: Style your hair with a curling iron
Prefer to work with a curling iron? That’s possible too! Do you have a good curling iron with adjustable temperature? A real must when curling, because every hair type needs a different temperature. Make sure not to take too thick sections. And remember: the larger your curling iron, the bigger the sections you can take.
Do your curls fall out quickly? The blog 'how to make your curls last the longest' is also available on Haarspullen.nl. When Ingrid doesn’t use a blow-dry brush, she chooses a large curling iron to style her hair. She recommends this one:
Do you want to enjoy your voluminous look even longer? Then it’s important to finish styling your hair properly. To prevent your hair from falling flat or frizzing, Ingrid has listed the following products.
With one of the strong hold hairsprays below, you can enjoy your styled hair for even longer! Make sure to spray the hairspray from a distance onto your hair. This way, the hairspray is evenly distributed throughout the hair.
