Baby bottles
Baby bottles are a must-have for every mother and father ♡ Breast milk is the best and most beautiful thing there is, but sometimes it’s not possible, and when mum (unfortunately) returns to work - a bottle becomes essential ♡ Every baby has different needs, so let’s dive into baby bottles.
Read on quickly and discover which one suits your little sunshine best!
What is the best baby bottle for my baby?
This is a very common question without a one-size-fits-all answer. Every baby is unique. If you search for this question, you’ll find many different answers, often featuring popular brands that sell well. This shows that many babies find these bottles comfortable, but that doesn’t automatically mean the same for your little one. So it’s important to try and test yourself. Especially if your baby is healthy and has no issues, it’s wise to start with a bottle as close to breastfeeding as possible, following nature. That’s what all babies share in common. If your little one has colic, you’ll have to look for something very different. But it’s always a matter of trying, just like with nipples.
What types of baby bottles are there?
There are so many bottles and brands that it’s easy to get lost. Today, we’ll explore the brands we offer in our webshop, and there’s a reason for that. We don’t just include any brand in our range without thought ;) Currently, we carry bottles from HAAKAA, BIBS and LanSinoh. Of course, there are other brands like Dr. Brown and Difrax, but we don’t stock those. Why did we choose these three brands?
HAAKAA – these bottles are great on their own, but they’re actually part of a whole system. The HAAKAA breast pumps, gen 2 & 3, connect with the bottles, which is super convenient! If you already have or want to buy a HAAKAA, these bottles are a must-have :) Made from Si medical-grade silicone and non-toxic PP & PPSU, plus glass baby bottles.
LanSinoh – these bottles are perfect if you’re breastfeeding. The nipples closely mimic the mother’s nipple, minimising nipple confusion. If breastfeeding doesn’t work out, these bottles are still highly recommended because they imitate the nipple so well. The bottle nipples are soft and stretchy, just like mum’s nipple. These bottles are available in both glass and polypropylene.
BIBS – these are glass bottles ideal if your baby also uses BIBS nipples. The BIBS bottles use the same natural rubber nipple. The glass is made from borosilicate glass, which is extremely strong and heat-resistant.
Are there baby bottles designed with breastfeeding in mind?
If you have become a mother, there is a good chance you are breastfeeding. Often mums return to work after a while, and you want a bottle that doesn’t cause confusion between the breast and the nipple. LanSinoh has thought this through carefully. They developed a nipple that closely mimics the shape and behaviour of a mother’s nipple. These nipples are very soft and flexible, just like a natural nipple. That’s why LanSinoh’s Natural Wave bottles are so popular! The NaturalWave® nipple is based on over fifty years of research and supports the baby’s natural sucking behaviour and mouth development.
Research shows that a baby’s sucking involves three key steps: latching on, the peristaltic tongue movement (where the baby makes wave-like movements with its tongue), and swallowing. It’s very important for the baby to perform the peristaltic tongue movement to support further mouth and jaw development. However, no bottle can fully replace the breast.
It’s clinically proven that LanSinoh’s NaturalWave® nipple promotes this natural sucking behaviour.
Which baby bottle helps against colic?
If a baby suffers from colic, that’s terrible. In such cases, it’s important to look for bottles with a special anti-colic function. This might be a valve or another venting system to ensure a smooth milk flow and prevent the baby from swallowing air while feeding. For bottle feeding, choosing bottles with this function is highly advisable. For example, consider Dr. Brown bottles.
Do you also have glass baby bottles?
We notice more and more parents are returning to glass bottles, mainly for health reasons. Glass is practical, dishwasher-safe, and unaffected by heat or cold. The only downside is the weight and the risk of breaking if dropped. This is why many parents prefer safe foodgrade Si silicone bottles. If you prefer glass bottles, all the brands we stock have options for you.
