With a Eyeliner, you can complete your eye look perfectly. A small line on your eye can make your eyes look more expressive and radiant. Go for an intense gaze with a sharp cat Eye or create a subtle line above the eyes for extra dimenSie and a seductive look. Applying a Eyeliner can be tricky sometimes, but with a bit of practice, you can master it too. The first step is to get a good quality Eyeliner from our collection. There are various types of Eyeliners in different textures and colours to choose from. There are no rules with Eyeliner—you can make the line as thick as you want, and even vary the colour. This way, you can make it as dramatic as you wish!
What is Eyeliner?
A Eyeliner is a makeup product used to draw a line above or below your eyes. Using Eyeliner makes your eyes appear more expresSie. You can make the lines as thick and dark as you like. Eyeliner is usually used together with mascara. There are different types of Eyeliner for sale—liquid Eyeliners, gel Eyeliners, and sticks. When you think of Eyeliner, you might quickly imagine a black line, but Eyeliners come in many colours to let you experiment even more!
How do you apply Eyeliner?
Almost everyone struggles with applying Eyeliner, so how do you do it best?
Many think you need to stretch your eyelid tight or keep your eye closed when applying liner, but that's not true. When you open your eyes afterward, the liner almost disappears and doesn’t look sharp because it sinks into fine lines. So keep your eyes open and follow the natural shape of the lash line as much as possible.
Start with a very thin line above your eye. Begin at the inner corner, placing the Eyeliner as close to the lash line as possible. Try not to press too hard on the brush at first, or the line will become thick immediately. After the first line is drawn, you can decide if you want to thicken it.
You can apply your Eyeliner before or after your eyeshadow. We recommend beginners apply the liner first, so mistakes are easier to correct.
What is the difference between liquid Eyeliner and gel Eyeliner?
There are many variants of Eyeliners, which can make choosing difficult. But what's really the difference between liquid and gel Eyeliner? Here’s a clear explanation:
Liquid Eyeliner: applying liquid liner requires some concentration. However, you can create very sharp lines. A downside or advantage of liquid liner is that it dries quickly, making it hard to correct mistakes, but if you're confident with your line, this is a plus. It also stays in place for a long time. Example of a liquid Eyeliner: Maybelline Lasting Drama Liquid Eyeliner.
Gel Eyeliner: needs less concentration than liquid liner. Gel liner usually comes in a pot and has a creamy texture. You typically need a separate Eyeliner brush. Gel liners have a thick texture, allowing you to draw bold dark lines easily. They also dry slower, so you can still adjust mistakes. Example of a gel Eyeliner: Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner.
Pen Eyeliner: super handy if you want to quickly create a wing. Also perfect for a subtle line above your eye. Pens often have various thicknesses, going from a fine tip to thicker, much like a pencil. A Eyeliner pen is usually liquid, distributed by a felt tip. Pen liners are often less opaque than gel or liquid liners and may fade faster. Example of a Eyeliner pen: L'Oreal Paris Superliner Perfect Slim Eyeliner.
Kohl Pencil: not technically a Eyeliner, but often used like one. With a kohl pencil, you can't create a sharp, precise wing. It works beautifully for a smoky Eye look, as you can blend or smudge it with a brush, creating a smooth transition between pencil and eyeshadow for a killer smoky look! Example: Max Factor Kohl Crayon Pencil.
Are there waterproof Eyeliners?
Yes, definitely! Waterproof products keep the liner in place even when moist. Perfect perfect for long, warm summer days! Waterproof Eyeliners come in various types, including pens with thick or thin tips. The Benefit They're Real Xtreme PreciSion Liner Waterproof is highly recommended—it won’t smudge when wet.
How can I make my Eyeliner look sharper?
Drawing a perfect line above your eyes is challenging, but how do you make it stand out more? Here are some tips:
- Always start with the more difficult eye to help make your lines more even.
- Everyone's eye shape is different, so find the line that suits your eyes best.
- If you’re a beginner, start by placing a few dots above your eye and then connect them later.
- Use concealer to tidy up mistakes.
- And lastly, but most importantly, practice a lot! Practice makes perfect!
Which Eyeliner suits my eyes best?
Every pair of eyes has the perfect Perfecte Eyeliner to give them beautiful definition. To help you find yours, we’ve summarised the options:
Round eyes
Make your round eyes appear larger by elongating the shape horizontally. Do this by drawing a beautiful long wing at the outer corners—also called the cat Eye. We recommend the L'Oreal Matte Signature Liner. This pen has a very short handle, feels sturdy, and helps you create the perfect wing. The Eyeliner is waterproof, so your Perfect wing lasts all day.
AMandel-shaped eyes
Enhance your aMandel-shaped eyes by making the line thicker from the inside out. So avoid using too much liner near the inner corner (near your nose). Start with a thin line inside your eyes and gradually thicken it towards the outer corner. The L'Oreal Perfect Slim Eyeliner is ideal for this, as it has a fine felt tip for a precise line.
Upturned eyes
For upturned eyes, it's also nice to apply Eyeliner on the lower lash line to improve symmetry. So don’t just line your upper lash line—extend the line at the outer corner of the lower lash line as well.
Hooded eyelids
You can visually lift hooded eyelids by applying Eyeliner only on the outer corner in an upward stroke. This makes your eyes appear larger. You can use any Eyeliner for this, such as the Maybelline Hyper Precise All Day Liquid Eyeliner.
What is the difference between kohl pencil and Eyeliner?
Both products create a line around your eye, but what exactly is the difference?
A major difference is that Eyeliner is liquid, while a kohl pencil is solid. Because a pencil is solid, it's easier to apply than liner, which requires more concentration. If you’re a beginner with Eyeliner, it’s better to start practising with a pencil. Also, a pencil makes it easier to draw thicker, darker lines.
