What is foundation?

With a foundation brush you work precisely and often get more coverage. A makeup sponge gives a softer, natural finish, especially when dabbing the foundation on. Don’t forget your jawline and neck for a seamless blend into your skin.

Want to conceal redness or dark circles extra well? Use a concealer after foundation. Foundation evens out your whole face, while concealer targets spots where you want more coverage.

Choose the right shade

Picking the right foundation shade is probably the most important part of buying foundation. It should blend naturally with your own skin tone. So test the colour not on your hand but preferably at your jawline. There you see best if it matches your face and neck.

Besides colour, consider your undertone. Your skin can have a cool, warm or neutral undertone. Cool undertones often have pink or blue hues. Warm undertones lean towards yellow, peach or golden hues. Neutral undertones are a balanced mix.

Unsure between two foundations? Usually choose the shade that looks most natural on your jawline. Foundation should enhance your skin’s beauty, not be visible. Want more warmth? Use a bronzer or blush over your foundation instead of a darker one.
