5 Tips and Tricks for Tinting Your Eyebrows
1. Don’t use regular hair dye
Never use regular hair dye on your eyebrows. The skin around your brows is much more sensitive than your scalp. Regular hair dye can be too harsh for the delicate skin around your eyebrows.
2. Test for allergies first
Before using eyebrow tint, it’s smart to check if you’re allergic. Apply a bit of eyebrow tint behind your elbow and cover it with a plaster. Leave it for at least 24 hours. If you have no reaction after 24-48 hours, it’s safe to use the product.
3. Clean your skin well before starting
Cleanse your skin well before tinting your eyebrows. Use an oil-free facial cleanser because oil can prevent the tint from adhering properly.
4. Use Vaseline
If precision isn’t your thing, apply a little Vaseline around your eyebrows. The greasy cream acts as a barrier so the tint won’t stain the skin where you applied the Vaseline.
5. Keep your eyebrows dry
You want to enjoy your tinted brows as long as possible. So keep your eyebrows dry for at least 24 hours after tinting. This allows the colour to properly absorb into the brow hairs.
The final and most important step: Rock your brows!
Which eyebrow colour suits my face best?
Of course, you can choose any colour you like. For a natural look, your eyebrow colour should match your hair colour.
Blondes
Blondes often have naturally light eyebrows. They usually want their brows to stand out more. In this case, choose a darker shade with a grey undertone. Be careful not to choose a colour that’s too dark. Pick a shade that’s no more than three tones darker than your natural brows.
Brownies
For brunettes and people with black hair, it’s the opposite. If you have dark hair, choose an eyebrow shade slightly lighter than your own. Pick a colour one to two tones lighter than your natural brows. This creates a softer look.
Red hair
Let’s not forget the beautiful redheads. Like blondes, redheads often have naturally light eyebrows. Choose a darker eyebrow shade with a warm undertone. This matches your hair colour for a natural result.
