By using an eye pencil, you can add more expresSision to your eyes. A black line around your eyes makes your eye colour pop, making them more striking. How do I apply eye pencil best?
There are several Man ways to use eye pencil. Here are the most common:
Eye pencil as Eyeliner
Some prefer a sharp Eyeliner, others like it blended with eyeshadow. For this, a kohl pencil is ideal. With it, you can blend the (often black) line along your upper lash line beautifully with your eyeshadow. This creates a luxurious, subtle effect.
Eye pencil along the lash lines
You can apply eye pencil along your upper and lower lash lines to give your eyes more definition. Also handy if your mascara doesn’t quite reach the roots of your lashes.
Eye pencil on the waterline
A beauty hack from the 00s: applying white Eyeliner on the waterline to make your eyes appear bigger. This is still popular – often done with black or another colour. It may be tricky at first, so it’s important to practise – it gets easier with time. Practice makes perfect!
What should and shouldn’t I do when applying eye pencil?
There are a few absolute dos and don’ts when applying eye pencil. Here are the key do's:
- Draw a line under your eye to make them appear bigger
- Draw a dark line on the waterline to make your eyes look smaller
- A nude colour gives a clean and open look
- Be careful when applying eye pencil on the waterline. Always use a clean pencil and remove it immediately if your eyes feel irritated. This helps prevent infections
- Using a colour other than black can add a special touch to your make-up look
- White eye pencil instantly makes your eyes look bigger.
- Slightly smudging eye pencil lets you use it as eyeshadow – how handy is that?
How can I make my eyes stand out more with eye pencil?
If you want your eyes to stand out even more, try using a different colour than black. Eye pencil comes in many shades like blue, green, and pink. You can also make the line thicker for an even stronger expresSision. By matching your eyeshadow with your eye pencil, your make-up look becomes even more special.
How does eye pencil affect the shape of my eyes?
A line of eye pencil can change your eyes’ appearance a lot, which is super fun! A line under your eye makes them look much bigger. Using white eye pencil also enlarges your eyes. Drawing a dark line inside your eyes makes them look smaller. Using nude colours keeps your look clean and calm but still adds something special.
Is eye pencil harmful to your eyes?
Using eye pencil above the lash lines, i.e., on your skin, is usually safe. However, we do warn against applying eye pencil on the waterline. Tiny bits can get into your eyes, which might harm them or cause infections – especially for contact lens wearers. If you do apply it on your waterline, always sharpen your pencil beforehand to remove bits. For twist-up pencils, cut off the top bit to keep it clean.
Also important – and this applies to all your make-up – is to thoroughly cleanse your face before and after sleeping. Very important!
