Your hero to make your make-up stay in place all day long: Primer ! We all know it: your make-up is super flawless, but not for long. By using a primer you prevent your make-up from becoming greasy, smudging or settling into pores and fine lines. There are different types of face primers that you use before applying your make-up. For example, you have primers especially for oily skin, but also primers for dry skin or sensitive skin. Your make-up was already beautiful, now it will stay in place!
Why do you use a primer?
You use a primer to make your make-up last longer. By applying a primer before you start with your make-up, your make-up will last longer and the end result will be more even. There are different types of primers: for your eyes, lips, eyelashes and face. In addition, a primer also has a caring function and keeps the skin healthy.
How do I make sure my makeup stays in place all day?
Easy, peasy! Want your makeup to last longer? Use a primer before applying makeup and lock in your makeup with a face powder or setting spray !
What is the difference between a primer and a setting spray?
The purpose of a setting spray and a primer is the same: they extend the life of your make-up and make it last longer. The way of applying them is different, you apply a primer before you start with your make-up and you apply a fixing spray after you have applied your make-up. But to make it more difficult, some people also choose to apply the setting spray as a primer for their make-up. Is this wrong? No, it is not. By applying the setting spray before you start with your make-up, you also prime your skin and your make-up will last longer. Because a setting spray is liquid, it also helps to distribute your make-up more evenly. Another difference is the structure between a primer and a setting spray: a primer often has a creamy or gel-like structure, while a setting spray is a liquid mist.
Should I choose a primer or a setting spray?
Actually, this is a bit of a trial and error process. Some people use a primer first, then apply their makeup and finish with a setting spray. Others use only a primer and still others use only a setting spray or use their setting spray as both a primer and a fixing spray.

Is there also a primer for sensitive skin?
When you have sensitive skin, it can be exciting to apply a primer because you don't know how your skin will react to it. Nevertheless, a primer is recommended for sensitive skin! (Provided you choose the right one of course). When you have sensitive skin, a common problem is: blemishes and redness. You can even out these red spots and blemishes with a primer, at the same time a primer often has a calming effect. For sensitive skin, the primer from Annabelle Minerals , the Pretty Neutral Clay Primer, is an absolute must-have! Another great primer that you can never go wrong with is the MAC Cosmetics Prep + Prime Matte Fix + Primer .
How do you use a primer?
Depending on the type of primer, the step-by-step plan is often the same:
Step 1: Cleanse and moisturize your skin. Before you apply a primer (whether it's on your face, eyes, or lips) it's important to always start at 0.
Step 2: Apply a small amount of the primer to your skin or eyelids. You can apply the primer with your (clean) fingertips or with a make-up sponge.
Step 3: Let the primer work for a while and you're ready for the next step: Make-up !
