Babies and personal care products —there's a lot going on. These days, we're becoming increasingly aware of what's in products and whether we even want to use them. This includes breastfeeding, food, personal care, vaccines, clothing, toys, and we even pay attention to TV (for older kids). We parents are becoming more aware and conscious; we no longer take everything at face value; we understand how marketing works. We know that money is a driving force. However, more and more brands are developing natural personal care products that keep our babies and children pure! That's why you'll only see clean brands here, where the brands carefully consider the effects of each ingredient. They empathize with parents, and rightly so! Often, it's parents who started brands because the current product range was terrible!

How often should I wash my baby?

The less the better, especially in the first few weeks, it's important to wash your baby as little as possible. You strip the skin of its natural oils, and using skincare products affects the body, causing it to regulate itself. Think lip balm, for example; using it will actually dry out your lips! At first, washing your baby with just water is sufficient. Once a week is often enough. Of course, if your baby spits up all over, you can pamper them in the shower on their mom or dad's chest. A wonderful moment!

You can start using a little bit of body wash or shampoo at some point. You only need to use a small amount, and the advantage is that it lasts a very long time! And that saves money, which is a great bonus, of course!

Which shampoo/body wash is best for sensitive baby skin?

A baby's skin is naturally sensitive, and not all babies are the same. However, we always recommend using a body wash that's as natural as possible, without harmful ingredients. Fortunately, we only work with brands that truly consider the ingredients in their baby and child care products. They've really put a lot of thought into it. That's why you can use anything we have in our webshop, but if you absolutely must go for the baby shampoo with the cleanest ingredient list, it's definitely Attitude Baby Shampoo & Body Wash Fragrance-Free.

Of course, we recommend washing as little as possible, and only when necessary! If you combine these tips with the product, you'll enjoy it for months to come :)

What ingredients should I look out for when purchasing for my baby?

Perfume is a common ingredient in many products, but not ideal for babies. While we love the scent—think Zwitsal—the ingredient isn't good for you at all. Let alone your baby, as it's all absorbed into the skin. Fortunately, natural perfumes are now available, meaning fragrance is extracted from natural ingredients like essential oils. The perfume's origin is always indicated on the packaging; if it's not, it's a chemical additive.

Also, watch out for drying alcohol ingredients. This might sound a bit strange, but there are several naturally extracted fatty alcohol ingredients that are nourishing rather than drying! But to make things easier, avoid them rather than choosing baby care products with alcohol!

After washing my newborn, do I also need to apply sunscreen to their skin?

If you do bathe your baby, it's absolutely advisable to apply sunscreen. No matter how you look at it, skincare products always dry out. You can minimize this by using the most natural and appropriate ingredients, but it still affects your body. This applies to all ages, and even more so for young children!

A good oil, cream or natural body lotion is therefore an absolute must for your newborn!

We have several creams in our webshop, all carefully selected based on ingredients that are as natural as possible. In other words, baby care without the junk!

Visit our Baby Oil/Body Lotion page to discover our approved options, our top 3, and more important information to help you make the right choice as a mom-to-be!

Which baby shampoo or body wash doesn't sting the eyes?

We naturally want the baby care products we use in the shower or bath to not sting our eyes. You simply don't want that. It's simple. All baby products don't sting our eyes, and that's because the baby shampoos we use have a pH of 7. Why 7? Because baby eyes have a pH of 7! This is close to your baby's tears, so they don't sting!
Now we hear you thinking, if a shampoo is tailored to the pH of your baby's eyes, is it actually good for their hair? A shampoo leaves your baby's hair feeling rough, and it has nothing to do with what's in it, but rather what's not! You only use the shampoo occasionally to cleanse, not to condition. So it only cleanses, not conditions!

That's not necessary for babies, a conditioner for example ;)
