How does Olaplex work?
Your hair mainly consists of the protein keratin. This protein is made up of a chain of amino acids found in each hair strand. When the protein level is balanced and your hair isn’t damaged, this chain is strong, giving you healthy hair. Enough protein keeps your hair strong. When your hair is damaged, this chain breaks. The result: gaps in the chain causing damaged hair. Did you know bleaching breaks this chain? Olaplex helps the amino acids bond again. It creates a link between two loose amino acids, strengthening the chain. Mixing Olaplex with a bleaching powder causes less damage to your hair. But there are more steps to keep your hair as strong as possible. Every Olaplex product contains this active repairing ingredient.

How was Olaplex created?
Olaplex was founded by Dean Christal. He partnered with chemists Dr. Craid Hawker and Dr. Eric Pressly. This Dream Team invented a chemical bond consisting of only one ingredient, without Silicones and oils. Olaplex reconnects broken bonds in hair before, during, and after colouring to keep your hair strong!

Can I use Olaplex if I’ve had a keratin treatment?
A keratin treatment is a semi-perManent treatment with liquid keratin that smooths and softens your hair. It nourishes your hair deeply. No.3 Hair Perfector is a fantastic extra boost in this case. So you can definitely use it.
Is Olaplex Curly Girl Method Proof?
As a true Curly Girl, chemical treatments are naturally not the best for your curls. With Olaplex, you consciously choose to limit damage and restore your hair to a healthy state.
There’s lots of information online about Olaplex and curly hair. It depends on your personal preference and the Haircare routine you already follow.
The balance between protein and moisture influences elasticity and stretch in curly hair. Too much moisture and too little protein means your hair stretches too much. Your curls lose shape and can feel dry. Too much protein and too little moisture mean your hair stretches too little. This can cause breakage.
After bonding treatments like No.0 and No.3, it’s wise to use shampoos and conditioners with moderate protein levels. Too much protein dries your curls out. Your curly locks benefit more from deeply hydrating products after bonding treatments. Since Olaplex shampoo and conditioner also contain these bonding ingredients, this combination might not achieve optimal results. This doesn’t mean Olaplex is unsuitable for the CG method, but finding the right balance in your routine is important.
