Make-up routine, #1: Care
Start with cleansing your face. A clean skin is the crucial base for every make-up look! Then, take care of your face, for example with a face cream. It’s smart to spend some time on your skin before starting your make-up routine. The options for skincare are endless and you can make it as thorough as you like! A few do’s and don’ts:
✔ Apply make-up on a clean face
✔ Apply SPF under your make-up before you head out
✖ Don’t sleep with make-up on, this can clog pores and cause blemishes.
Make-up routine, #2: Primer
After caring for your face, it’s best to apply a primer. A primer is a layer between your skin and make-up that helps you apply your make-up more easily. But that’s not all: it also keeps your make-up looking fresh longer and more even. Want to give your skin a Glow? Or would you prefer a correcting primer to help reduce redness? You can! We have various primers in our range for different skin types. A few do’s and don’ts:
✔ Let the primer absorb before you start with make-up
✖ Don’t use it all over your face, but focus on dry or oily spots
Make-up routine, #3: Concealer
The next step in the make-up routine is the concealer. Dark circles, imperfections and red spots are a thing of the past with concealer! Also, you can highlight certain areas of your face with concealer for a fresher look. A few do’s and don’ts:
✔ Blend concealer with your fingers, the warmth helps blending
✖ Don’t use oily concealer under the eyes, it can settle in fine lines
Make-up routine, #4: Foundation
Now that you have covered blemishes and brightened under eyes with concealer, you can start applying foundation. Foundation is a lovely base for an even complexion. There are many types and brands, whether you are looking for a liquid foundation, a Cream foundation or even a foundation stick, this page explains which suits your skin best: foundation. You can apply it with your fingers, a brush or a sponge. Clean your brush and sponge regularly to prevent bacteria build-up. This also helps avoid breakouts. Extra tip: it’s better to start with less foundation than too much. You can always add more for the desired look! Too much foundation looks unnatural and cakey. A few do’s and don’ts:
✔ Match your foundation with your natural skin tone, neck and décolleté
✔ Clean your brush and make-up sponge regularly to prevent impurities,
✔ Blend well along the jawline to avoid visible lines
✔ Apply foundation (and the rest of your make-up) in natural daylight
✖ Don’t apply too much foundation, it looks heavy and unnatural.
Make-up routine, #5: Powder
Many think face powder is only for oily skin. Yes, it helps control shine during the day, but it has many more benefits! Powder helps your make-up last longer, stand out better and removes any cakey effect. Also, like concealer, you can use powder to add contour by applying a thicker layer on areas you want to highlight, such as under your eyes, cheekbones, chin or nose bridge. This contouring connects nicely to the next step.
Make-up routine, #6: Highlighting & Contouring
Now it’s time for the next step: Highlighting & Contouring. With a highlighter and/or bronzer, you can create Perfect a sharp jawline, slimmer nose, smaller forehead and prominent cheekbones. You can contour your face in many Man ways. You can choose from different textures depending on your preference: powder contour, cream contour or contour stick. You can also contour with bronzer. Bronzing gives your face the same effect as contouring, plus a lovely glow! Highlighter brightens the areas where the sun naturally catches. A few do’s and don’ts:
✔ Check if warm, neutral or cool tones suit your skin for the best effect
✖ Don’t start contouring with a colour too dark, you can always build it up
Make-up routine, #7: Blush
Blush adds a fresh colour to your cheeks, making your face look healthier and more vibrant! If you have a naturally pale face, blush instantly brightens it up. It also helps shape your face. We have a variety of shades and undertones available online, something for every skin type! A small tip: don’t smile when applying blush on your cheek apples. Smiling raises the cheeks, so when you relax, the blush will sit too low and close to your mouth. A few do’s and don’ts:
✔ Apply blush on the upper part of your cheekbones
✔ Choose a shade that matches your skin tone
✖ Don’t smile when applying your blush
✖ Avoid blush with too much glitter – that’s what highlighter is for!
