1 - Primer

Use a primer before applying your make-up. A primer fills your pores ensuring your make-up lasts longer and looks healthy and radiant.

2 - Base

Primer is definitely recommended!

Why is it important to remove make-up before bed?

Everyone knows the feeling - it's bedtime but you can't be bothered to remove your make-up. Tempting as it is, it's better not to skip it. Your skin repairs itself at night. If you don't remove make-up in the evening, your skin can't breathe and the repair process becomes slower and less effective. Removing make-up reduces clogged pores and pimples risk.

On which Man can you best apply your foundation? We got you! The KASHŌKI Sponge Raindrop is highly recommended. Wet the sponge before use; it will expand, giving you a larger surface. Then place some foundation on your palm and dab the sponge into it. Blend the foundation onto your face with a tapping motion. What different mascara brushes are there?

Mascara brushes come in all kinds of shapes and sizes. We explain the most common ones:

Rubber mascara brush - Plastic brushes help you separate lashes well and extend lashes. A rubber brush with spaced teeth gives a natural look. This brush holds less mascara, giving a beautiful, Defining look. When the teeth are closer together, lashes are well separated, creating precise definition without clumping. Lashes are well caught in the brush, enabling you to create length.

Hairy mascara brush - A natural brush gives your lashes a soft, light look while adding volume. It deposits more mascara because it picks up mascara more easily.

Thick vs thin mascara brush - There is a difference between thick and thin brushes. If you have shorter lashes, a short brush is Perfect, as it allows you to reach the lash base easily. A thick brush makes it harder to reach the base but gives more volume—highly recommended for longer lashes.

Curved (round) mascara brush - A round brush with long hairs or teeth catches every lash. It curves perfectly around your lashes. Straight lashes - You'll love how quickly you can create curled lashes. For this, choose a curved mascara brush. A round brush catches every lash. Use a thin brush to reach the lash base well.

Thin lashes - Dreaming of thick, full lashes? A hairy brush with long hairs is Perfect for you! This brush deposits lots of mascara that hugs your lashes, while the long hairs keep lashes separated and clump-free.

Clumpy lashes - Clumpy lashes are easily fixed with a rubber brush where the comb teeth are close together. This brush catches each hair separately, keeping lashes well separated. A must-have!

Short lashes - If you have short lashes, go for a not-too-thick brush. A thin brush allows easy access to lash roots. Choose between hairy or rubber brush yourself.

Long lashes - Wow, lucky you! This is something everyone wants. We recommend a mascara brush with long, rubber hairs like a hair comb side by side. This extends your lashes beautifully without clumping.

How do I apply mascara?

The most common Man to apply mascara is: sweep the brush from lash base in a zigzag motion toward the tips. This gives you voluminous, separated lashes. Don't focus too much on the lash ends; the base is just as important! For full lashes, start at the base. When you reach halfway, hold the mascara for a few seconds to push the curl into your lashes.

Tip! Never pump your mascara and don't leave it open too long. This lets oxygen in, causing faster drying.

Another tip! Cotton swabs are great to fix mistakes. Wet them slightly to avoid fluff in your lashes.

How long can I use mascara?

Do you still have a forgotten mascara lying around from who knows when? You better toss it. Once opened, mascara lasts about twelve to sixteen weeks. This is because the active ingredients dry out and bacteria accumulate. Bacteria enter the mascara as you pull the brush out and put it back in after applying to your lashes. No worries at first — bacteria are minimal and not harmful initially. But after four to five months, it may cause irritation. Replace your mascara if it:

Grainy
Clumps
Dries out
Smells bad
Irritates

Tip! Is your mascara almost finished but you don't have a new one yet? Place it in a bowl of hot water; this will liquefy the mascara again. But as mentioned, it's best to buy a new one soon. ;)

How do I remove mascara clumps?

First, check the brush is free of clumps before applying mascara on your lashes. This prevents many clumps. Got clumps on your lashes? You can pick or wipe them off with the mascara tip. A cotton swab is ideal, but wet it first to avoid tiny cotton fibres stuck in your lashes. A tissue works too, but removing clumps this way may mean reapplying mascara. ;)

What's the difference between 'regular' mascara and waterproof mascara?

As Dutch people, we all know it: a sudden rain shower, soaking clothes, and mascara running down your chin. The solution: waterproof mascara. With waterproof mascara, you stay in control in the rain and the mascara stays on your lashes! But this can also be seen as a downside: waterproof mascara can be stubborn to remove. You can't remove it with water alone. This might leave residue on lashes, which can damage lashes or the thin skin around them. You have to decide what suits you best: waterproof or regular mascara?

How do I keep my lashes in good condition?

You might now wonder how to get and keep your lashes healthy. Here are some tips:

Never wear eye make-up for too long continuously. Always remove eye make-up before bed.
Remove eye make-up with a gentle oil without too much fragrance.
Don't rub your lashes hard. Tip: apply oil on a cotton pad, hold it on your lashes for a few seconds, then wipe away in one swipe!
Use an eyelash serum or oil to nourish and hydrate your lashes. Highly recommended: castor oil or aloe vera.
Avoid waterproof mascara, as it is quite hard in texture.
