What is a toner?
A hair toner is a color corrector for your hair. It is not a standard hair dye, but a mild coloring that is specially developed to add or neutralize a specific tone to your hair. What is the difference between hair toner and hair dye?

Which toner do I need?
The right toner depends on two things:
- The undertone of your current hair color (e.g. yellow, orange or red)
- The color result you want (e.g. cooler blonde, warm copper, deeper brown)

Choose a purple or silver toner
Why? Purple neutralizes yellow. This is how you get that fresh, cool blonde without the 'banana yellow'.
Is your hair orange or coppery?

Do you want a warm glow (copper, gold, honey)?

Is toner bad or damaging for your hair?

How do you apply hair toner?
- Wash your hair with a cleansing shampoo (preferably without silicones)
- Pat your hair towel dry
- Prepare your toner
Mix the toner with a corresponding developer, if necessary. Use the ratio stated on the packaging (often 1:2). Some toners are ready-to-use and do not require mixing. - Apply the toner to your hair
Put on gloves and divide your hair into sections. Apply the toner with a brush or applicator bottle – from roots to ends – or just on the parts you want to treat (like highlights or roots). - Allow the toner to work (check packaging for processing time)
- Rinse!
How long does a toner last?
That depends on several things, but on average a toner will remain visible in your hair for about 2 to 6 weeks. But this is not a rock-solid guarantee. The exact duration depends on your hair type, how often you wash your hair, which products you use and how light or porous your hair is.
