A good skincare routine for the body includes regular exfoliation. By exfoliating the skin once in a while you keep your skin clean and healthy. In addition, exfoliating also has a positive effect on shaving and your tan or self-tanner. Afraid that exfoliating is not good for your skin? Below is exactly how you can exfoliate without any doubts.

Is exfoliating bad for your skin?

You've probably heard that exfoliating is bad for your skin. If you don't exfoliate properly, this is partly true. But if you simply buy a scrub without harmful ingredients and don't exfoliate your skin every day, you're in the right place! It can't hurt to keep in mind that exfoliating is fairly intensive for the skin, so pay attention to the sensitivity of your skin. Do not scrub on areas where it is irritated or dry. Of course, all this outweighs the many benefits!

What is the result of scrubbing?

Exfoliating speeds up the skin cell renewal process. The granules and cleansing ingredients contained in the scrub remove dead skin cells. This way there is room for new skin cells. Cleaning, cleaning, cleaning, that is scrubbing, but in combination with a nourishing product, this is extra caring. We have listed all the benefits of scrubbing for you. A body scrub:

      • Removes dead skin cells and makes way for new ones
      • Reduces the chance of blackheads and pimples
      • Makes wrinkles and scars less visible
      • Protects against ingrown hairs
      • Provides a longer and more intensive tan
      • Makes the skin soft and smooth
      • Stimulates blood circulation
      • Reduces skin aging
      • Cleanses the skin intensively

Do I scrub before or after shaving?

Exfoliating before shaving offers benefits. In this way you 'expose' all the hairs and you already open the hair follicles. This way you get a smoother and better result. You also remove the dead skin cells before shaving, so they don't get into your razor.

Can I also sunbathe after exfoliating?

It is best to exfoliate your skin before sunbathing. This ensures that the tan lasts longer and the process is also faster. When you exfoliate your skin, you remove dead skin cells. The horny layer thus becomes thinner, as it were. The skin that turns brown when you exfoliate beforehand is therefore 'new skin'. The sun then tans the skin just a little more intensely.

But don't scrub your skin right before sunbathing. Your skin is still too sensitive for that after scrubbing. It is best to exfoliate your body 2 or 3 days before going out into the sun. Also use a milder scrub for the summer. Your skin has a lot to endure in the summer, so your skin will be extra sensitive during this period.

And after sunbathing? After sunbathing, you can feel free to exfoliate. Just wait until your skin is less sensitive. But you don't have to worry that your tan will be completely faded by the scrub.

      How often can I exfoliate?

Exfoliating every now and then is good for your skin. But exfoliating your skin every day can cause irritation. Exfoliating your skin too much will make your skin dry or irritated. This can unclog your pores and make the skin super sensitive.

Exfoliating about 2 to 4 times a month is sufficient. You don't have to worry about damaging your skin. If you have sensitive, dry skin, it might be best to exfoliate twice a month, so every other week. But don't forget to apply a nourishing body lotion.

Is there also a natural body scrub?

Your skin can react to certain chemicals, such as irritation or an allergic reaction. Natural ingredients can do wonders for skin and hair. Haarspullen has a wide range of natural skincare. What is a natural ingredient that I can add to my skin scrub?

We want to use skin scrubs and other skin care products that are also beneficial to our skin. There are all kinds of skin scrubs. Some make them themselves, others prefer a ready-made variant. However, in all cases there is a pure oil that can always be added to the skin scrub, and that is pure avocado oil. Why exactly would you do this? Avocado oil is rich in vitamins A, B, D, E, H, K and PP. There is no other oil as rich in this vitamin as avocado oil. It is recognized as the best vitamin serum for face and hair! Of course, avocado oil is also rich in precious fatty acids. In addition, it also contains a high concentration of squalene, which ensures that the sebaceous glands are brought back into balance.

Nanoil Avocado Oil is cold pressed, 100% organic and unrefined. In addition, it is officially ECOCERT Certified.
