Your foundation is the basis of your make-up look. It evens out the skin and makes it look healthy and radiant. You can use a foundation for daily use or for a party. Yet it remains difficult for both to find the perfect foundation for your own skin. Of course you want to have the right color and coverage. Let's find out which foundation suits your skin best!

What types of foundations are there?

Choosing a foundation is certainly not easy, and there are also so many different types of foundations. But what kind of foundations are there? We have listed them below for you:

Which brands of foundations can you find in the Hair Stuff range?

There are many different make-up brands. There are also many different brands that sell foundations. The brands we sell foundations from are listed below for you:

      Which foundation suits my skin?

There are many different foundations in all kinds of sizes, substances, colors and coverings. Which makes it even more difficult to find a foundation with your skin. To make it a bit easier, there are a number of things you can pay attention to when finding the right foundation for your skin: the color tone, your skin condition and the coverage.

Skin condition- First you determine your skin type. Is it greasy, or is it dry? With this you determine which type of foundation suits your skin. We have listed a number of factors and a number of examples of foundations that are suitable for your skin:

Color tone- one of the most important factors in finding the right foundation is color. Of course you don't want your neck or jawline to be a different color than your face. First, there are 3 types of shades:

      • Warm - your skin then has a pink undertone
      • Cool - your skin then has a yellow undertone
      • Neutral - then you are just in the middle

With neutral skin you do not have to pay close attention to undertone, you can have both undertones. A tip in between: if you are testing a foundation, it is best to do this on your neck or on your jawline, not on your hand. If you know what your undertone is, you can start looking at how light / dark your skin is, pay close attention to the difference between your neck and the foundation. Is your perfect color not listed? You can also mix different colors of foundation together!

Many foundations already indicate by name which color you can expect. For example,L'Oreal Paris True Match Foundation hasan ideal system, they have put letters in the foundation name: Warm (D / W), Cool (R / C) and Neutral (N). In addition, the colors go from light (1) to dark (10). Then N1 is, for example, a neutral, light color. Useful!

Coverage- There is also a difference in the coverage of the foundation. Do you really suffer from impurities? Then it is best to use a full coverage foundation. Do you have a fairly even skin of yourself? Then you can go for a transparent or semi-covering foundation for a natural effect.

How do I apply my foundation?

To start, it is best to apply a primer before your foundation. This keeps your foundation in place better and you have less chance of stains.

      For example, check these primers:

Then you can get started with your foundation. You can use your (clean) fingers, a foundation brush or a make-up sponge to apply your foundation.

      Foundation brushes:

      Make-up sponges:

Make sure you blend the foundation as well as possible for an even result. You do this by dabbing the foundation into the skin, not smearing it. You can apply the foundation locally, for example on red spots, or all over your face for an even effect.

What should I pay attention to when applying my foundation?

First, of course, the color and texture of the foundation, which must match your skin type and color. You can read a few questions about how to find the best foundation at 'Which foundation suits my skin?'. If the foundation is in your skin tone, a natural result is almost guaranteed.

Second, pay attention to the coverage of the foundation. You can build the coverage by applying multiple layers. Avoid double coats on the eyelid - but it is best to apply several coats on areas where it is red. You can also use a concealer to cover up red spots, which is a bit more opaque.

In addition, try to ensure that the foundation flows into the neck, so that you do not see a color difference at the chin.

Is a foundation with SPF enough to protect my skin from the sun?

You know what they say ... SPF keeps you young! Sunscreen is beauty hack # 1 to maintain younger skin. That is why it is great that more and more foundations now also contain SPF. However, this may not provide adequate protection, as you may be using just a little bit of foundation or not all over your face. Just think back to the last time you used sunscreen on your face ... that's probably more than the pump of foundation you use. That's why we don't recommend using your foundation as a sunscreen. Haarspullen has a number of foundations in the range with SPF:
